David Vrsalovic MS, PT, Cert

David Vrsalovic earned his Master of Science in physical therapy from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. David’s career began at the Westside Sports Physical Therapy group in New York City where he worked for years within the Hospital of Special Surgery’s Network. Through his years of continuing education David has become a certified provider of Active Release Techniques and the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine. David is currently studying acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Eastern School of Acupuncture. He is currently running an independent study with cadavers comparing acupuncture meridians with peripheral nerve distribution and myofascial pathways. Through this highly specialized training, he has developed a unique and holistic approach to the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic disorders.
Cathy Stephenson Vrsalovic, MS, PT, MSW
Director of Physical Therapy/Wellness & co-owner
Cathy Stephenson received her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Long Island University and began her career at the Westside Sports Physical Therapy group. Aware of the critical need to address the psychological component of the healing process, Cathy enrolled at New York University, where she completed a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work. She incorporated her psychosocial training into the development of Focus programs for patients suffering from chronic pain. Her teaching resume includes Long Island University Department of Physical Therapy, Columbia University Physical and Occupational Therapy Staff, Be Yoga and classes given at Focus Physical Therapy. Her credentials include certification in Active Release Techniques, Pilates, and Therapeutic Yoga.
Frank Failla, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Frank earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. At Columbia his studies specialized in advanced orthopedics. Frank has trained at the McKenzie Institute for Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine. He has also been certified as an Active Release provider. Frank has extensively studied the body’s myofascial meridian system and taught clinical structural anatomy assessment at the Eastern School of Acupuncture..
Jason Sargis, M.S., L.Ac.
Acupuncturist, Oriental Medicine
Jason received his Masters Degree in Acupuncture from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in Manhattan where he currently serves as a member of the faculty's clinical treatment team. In addition, he continued his studies and earned a second Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine. This extensive training allows him to accurately prescribe herbal formulas to supplement his acupuncture treatments. Jason received his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Chicago and is currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Jason is certified in Oncology Acupuncture by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Jason has achieved his 3rd Degree black belt in Kung Fu and has studied the martial arts for 15 years.
Jim O'Rourke, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Jim received both his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Physical Therapy from the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Jim’s career path has led him to specialize in orthopedic disorders. As a collegiate soccer player and current tri-athlete, Jim has experienced first hand the high level demand of human physiology. This experience has helped him understand the nuances that comprise a comprehensive understanding of orthopedic injuries and pathologies. Jim’s advanced studies have included the McKenzie institute for Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the Spine and certification as an Active Release provider.
Elly Mandarakas
Pilates Teacher
Elly Mandarakas received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montclair State University. Through her years of practicing movement she began to regard the body not only as artwork but also as an essential vehicle for living a long and healthy life. Elly is certified in Pilates through Pilates Association International and holds a Dance Educators of America certification in multiple styles of dance and acro-tumbling for all levels and ages. Elly has performed with the NJ Ballet Company, Albano Ballet, MSU Repertory, and continues her performing career as a founding member of Moe-tion Dance Theater of Montclair. Elly's diverse experiences compliment the variety of clientele who seek wellness at Focus Physical Therapy.

Office Manager
As a mother of three children, Pat knows how to manage a busy home environment. This is exactly what she skillfully does at Focus. Pat will handle any insurance, billing, or schedule issues in a timely, competent, and friendly way. She will work with you at all times to make your experience here with our Focus family as user friendly and efficient as possible.
Andrea Smith, CMT
Certified Massage Therapist
Andrea Smith graduated with high honors from the Helma Institute of Massage Therapy in New Jersey. She earned her 1stlevel of Reiki and is a Professional member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
